JCH&L CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT AUG 14. A charity golf tournament to benefit Jefferson Community Health & Life has been set for Friday, Aug 14, at the Fairbury Country Club.

This year’s tournament will be a 3-person scramble. Limited to the first 32 paid teams (including hole sponsors).  Entry fee $225 per team (non-hole sponsor teams) Includes one 3-person team. Cart no included. (May be rented for additional $55/cart.

One entry fee includes breakfast, lunch and Mulligans and a gift for each member.  Entries due by Friday, July 31, 2026. 

Hole sponsorships are also available. Sponsorship is $500 per hole.  Includes one 3-peson team, recognition at hole, in program and on tournament signage.

September 12, Sunday, 6-8, Cruise Night. Downtown Square, downtown area and the Retirement homes in town. M&D Auto Service, 6th & C St., hosting a “Drive In” Food & Drink until gone, 5pm. Open to the public.

15th Annual Museum Car Show to be held in Downtown Fairbury on Sunday, Sept. 13 ~ 9-4 p.m. For those that are entering a vehicle at the Car Show, registration will be from 9:00 a.m.-noon at ‘On The Bricks Lofts and Venue’ Car Show Registration on 508 E Street! It would be best to enter the downtown area from north E Street, please follow the signs. Post Prom Luncheon from 11-1 pm at “On The Bricks”

Classic cars & trucks and enjoy food, games for the kids, drawings for prizes and trophies awarded for the top car of each class. Registration 9 a.m. til noon. Fairbury City Museum Open 9-4 pm.

The Fairbury City Museum Car Show committee is hosting a Cruise Night – September 12.  Cruising will begin about 6 pm around the square, at 7 pm we will have an official escort to the north end of town and drive past the retirement centers.   We will have a map soon to get off the beaten path, so to speak.  We are looking for community participation, you do not have to have a classic vehicle to enjoy the cruise.

The third weekend in September marks the Annual Tractor Show, STEELE CITY DAYS – SEPT 19 20.  The event is held by the Jefferson County Historical Society on Saturday and Sunday, September 19-20, 2026 at Steele City, Nebraska.  Steele City is located just 12 miles southeast of Fairbury on Hwy 8.

Tractors of all makes and condition are welcome.  It is a free non-competitive show. Hit-and-miss small engines and lawn/garden tractors are also welcome. On Saturday the Garden Tractor Pull at noon. Antique Pull Contest at 1:00 p.m.- Weigh-in at 12:00 Noon. The Antique Stock Tractor Pull follows with no entry fee. The tractor pull will be held at the old school house grounds at the top of the hill. The Steele City Presbyterian Church will have lunch on the grounds.

On Sunday the Tractor Drive at 9 a.m., Church Service at 1 p.m. and Tractor Parade at 3 p.m.  More events to be announced.

The Tractor Drive, Scenic Tour, participants meet at 8:45 AM and leave at 9:00 AM from the Tractor Show area.

The music by “Down Town” will be from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Old Gas Station. The Steele City Presbyterian Church will conduct a Community Church Service at 1:00 PM north of the Old Gas Station and have a Lunch Stand.

The Prairie Blacksmith Association will have demonstrations at the Blacksmith Museum both days. The Bank Museum and Livery Museum will both be open with displays.

December 4, Friday, 5-6:30 p.m. Miracle on the Square  will kick off Friday, December 4th with Santa arriving at 5 p.m. Kids visit with Santa & Mrs. Santa at the Courthouse from 5-6:30 p.m.  Each child will receive a free coloring book sponsored by Shelter Insurance and crayons.  The Fairbury Community Band will be playing inside the courthouse as well.

2027 FEBRUARY
The Fairbury Chamber Annual Banquet will be held on Friday, February 5, 2027 at the Elks Lodge.
Cocktail Hour is at 6 pm, Catered Dinner at 7 pm. Awards and a Blockbuster Auction to follow. Theme TBA 

Tickets will be available for sale at the Chamber office. Dinner Tickets are $35 each.  Table Sponsorships are $70. Total table of 8 and sponsorship is $350.

After January 30, tickets are $40  each.  Table Sponsorships are First Come/First Serve.  Sponsorships limited to one sponsor per table.

Each year at the Fairbury Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet, a portion of the proceeds from the auction is donated to a local organization or cause. The Chamber is currently seeking information about worthwhile projects that would positively impact the Fairbury community. Community Service Award Form. Looking for nominations for the Community Service Award. Nominees should be someone who has contributed a considerable amount of their own time and effort to the betterment of the community.  This should be done on a volunteer basis over several years.  The services include but are not limited to educational, recreational or cultural activities.  Active membership in service clubs, fraternal groups and religious or church organizations should be given consideration in addition to individual activities.  Each elected and appointed position on governmental bodies are also indicators of community services.  Nominations must be submitted no later than Friday, January 15, 2027.

Each June, members of the National Pony Express Association recreate the Pony Express in a Commemorative Re-Ride over a 10 days period. Letters are carried in a mochila over the original trail. The 1,966 mile, eight state event is conducted 24 hours a day until the mail is delivered to its destination. This national event is an opportunity for all young and old to ride the Pony Trail and to receive mail via the Pony Express!
