Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

Wally’s Sports Bar & Grill

Present: President Trevor Steinmeyer, Vice President Sally Beckworth, Shelly Hamm, Christy Haddan, Linda Harris, Brian Kujath, Ron Hilligas and Sharon Priefert.  Absent:  Jan Klaus and Carmen Hinman.

President Steinmeyer called the meeting to order 11:38 a.m.

Minutes:  Christy made a motion to approve minutes Linda seconded.  With the correction of adding Shelly to helping with Van’s Chicken BBQ.

Financials:  Next meeting.  

Special Event Ideas: 

Van’s Chicken BBQ, JC Fair, Sat., July 17, 5-7pm:  Did not meet budget but for the difference in the amount of work done, we will definitely hire them again next year.

Carson & Barnes Circus:  The City Administrator along with department heads do not feel they have the manpower for this event this year.  We told them another year.

Total Sound Fairbury High School Reunion recap:  Linda made a motion for the Chamber to give proceeds from the dance per agreement with Opie, Dave and Sarge to the Fairbury Athletic Complex.  Sally seconded.

Concert/Street Dance:  West Wind Country Band on August 28, 9 p.m.-1 a.m., Chairperson Ron 4H Building.  Posters are ready to be distributed.  Linda made a motion to use advertising dollars for the Fairbury Journal News and KUTT 99.5.  Brian seconded.

Beer/Wine Festival:  Chairperson Jan tabled, Run/Walk:  Chairperson Carmen tabled

Updates on committees :

Ambassadors:  Sharon Priefert, Chairperson Bill Runge.

Ambassadors Business After Hours:  Chairs Carmen Hinman and Trevor Steinmeyer.

DATE CHANGE:  Welcome New Teachers Business After Hours, Thursday, August 12, 5-7p.m. Fred working on location FCC?

Community Pride & Beautification:  Sharon Priefert, Chairperson Teri Deger. 

Special Events: Above.

Annual Home & Garden Show:  Danni Starck and Lana Likens chairs.  End of February

Personnel/ Membership Committee:  Sally, Christy, Trevor and Thayne Tatro.  Trevor will try to organize a meeting.

New members:  Discs-N-Dat and Pinecrest Apartments.

Next meeting:  Friday, August 20 a.m. at Chamber office at Pla-Mor Lanes/Cafe.

Goals 2010

1.    Membership Drive to increase membership by 5 new members - Membership Committee

2.    Maintain Current Membership; get membership more active to improve communication – Chamber Board & staff

3.    Special Events fundraisers to help balance budget.

4.    Chamber Involvement with schools – Chamber Board and Staff

5.    Business After Hours quarterly - Carmen & Trevor
