Rock Creek Trail Days on June 7 & 8, 2025
- When: Saturday, June 7th 10 am – 8 pm; and Sunday, June 8th 10 am – 3 pm
- The Oregon-California Trail, Pony Express riders carried mail across the West, and Wild Bill Hickok began a legendary career as gunfighter!

Take a step back in time this June and explore Rock Creek Station – a place where road ranches served pioneers along the Oregon Trail.
Visitor Center open 10 am – 5 pm daily during the event. Scheduled events include Pony Express demonstrations and a narration of the Hickok-McCandles incident at 10:30 am and 3:30 pm on Saturday, and again at 1:00 pm on Sunday.
A free-will donation lunch of pulled pork sandwiches will be hosted by the Friends of Rock Creek Station from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm on Saturday.
Saturday, June 1st , visitors can also enjoy a Buffalo Stew Cookout and guest speaker at 7:00 pm. Advanced cookout tickets will be on sale at the park’s Visitor Center and at the Fairbury Chamber of Commerce office. Adults $9/Children $6 (13 and under). Buffalo Stew served with Cornbread Muffin or Biscuit and Dessert (variety) with Tea or Bottled Water. At 8:00 pm Humanities Nebraska guest speaker Chris Sayre, Nebraska’s Musical Smorgasbord, will share songs and melodies that were brought to Nebraska by the various European ethnic groups who settled here in the 19th and early 20th centuries, performed live on a variety of traditional instruments. The presentation is free and open to the public.
Living history demonstrations will be held on the historic ranches throughout the day on both Saturday and Sunday.
