The Ambassadors of the Fairbury Chamber of Commerce were established to promote a positive relationship with new and existing businesses, members and the surrounding communities. Also, to increase the value of the Chamber membership by providing networking opportunities and business development resources.

Qualifications
To qualify as a prospective member of the Ambassadors, the prospect must meet the following criteria:
Be a good spokesperson for and representative of the Fairbury Chamber of Commerce.
Have a record of past contributions to civic and community organizations and affairs.
Be a current dues paying member or an employee of a dues paying member of the Fairbury Chamber
Have expressed an interest in the goals, purposes and functions of the Chamber.
Dues will be $15 per year and used for pins, refreshments, certificates, ribbons and other expenses related to the duties of the Ambassador committee.
Memberships open throughout the year to those meeting the above qualifications.
Duties
Duties of the members will include attending Business After Hours, ribbon cuttings, open houses, monthly business coffees, parades and grand openings. This year more emphasis will be placed on visiting with existing chamber businesses, welcoming new businesses, new owners of already established businesses and businesses that have moved to a new location or remodeled.
Members of the ambassador committee will be contacted when their attendance is desired at BAH, ribbon cuttings, meetings, etc.
Ribbon cuttings are scheduled for Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. if
possible (2nd
or 4th best), refreshments are served at 9:30am. The business provides
cookies or donuts and a beverage (suggested coffee and/or tea/water).
Business After Hours are being scheduled for Friday at 5pm. The
business provides appetizers and beverages.
The
Chairperson is required to take a sign up sheet to all point events and
follow up a ribbon cutting with a framed picture of the event.
Chamber Director sends reminder cards to Ambassadors, Board of
Directors, City Council, media, sidebar of Fairbury Journal News and Time
Warner Cable. Also makes sure Fairbury Journal News can be there to
take a photo for the FJN.
Recommended dress code is red with an official Ambassador pin. The Chamber will provide the Ambassador pin. Ambassador Golf shirts are available to Ambassadors only they are red with the Fairbury Chamber of Commerce pocket embroidery for $20, add’l for XXL and larger.
An Ambassador of the Year Award will be given at the Annual Chamber Banquet. The award will be given to the ambassador who accumulates the most number of points based on the following point system.
